Phyllis Kay Heilman's Obituary
Mrs. Phyllis Heilman, 68, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, at Novant Heath Center in Huntersville, NC.
Phyllis was a native of Henderson, KY, later moving to Wooster, Ohio. Phyllis was an educator at heart and was admired for her patience and gentle spirit. After graduating from Transylvania University, she worked as a middle school math teacher in Orangeburg, SC for six years prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the North Carolina Association of Teacher Assistants. In her spare time, she loved cooking, sewing, spending time with family and frequently enjoyed playing various card games. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Malcolm Neal and Catherine Ashley Pruitt.
Mrs. Heilman is survived by her husband of 46 years, DC Heilman and their children; Eric (Rebekah) of Concord, Kurt of Charlotte; grandchildren, Lilly, Emma and Olivia; siblings, Marcia Murphy (Jim) of Hilton Head Island, SC, Wayne Pruitt (Vicky) of Wooster, OH, Greg Pruitt (Vicki) of Henderson, KY and Jennifer Howell (Marshall) of Henderson, KY.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm till 2:00 pm, Friday, December 9, 2022 at James Funeral Home of Huntersville with celebration of life services at 2:00 pm. Graveside services will follow at Carolina Memorial Park of Kannapolis.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the North Carolina Scottish Rite Masonic Foundation, which supports five clinics across North Carolina helping children overcome language-learning disabilities and dyslexia.
