Rachel Ervin's Obituary
In the early morning sunlight of February 12, 2015, following a day surrounded by her loving family and dear friends, Rachel Lowe Ervin left behind all her Earthly companions to each our own grief, our shared gratitude and our sorrow at end. By her side, accompanied by four grandchildren, came the song and the promise of an Old Rugged Cross. And in that instant it was only her flesh that departed, to our Lord went a spirit that will never be lost.
She was born on October 22, 1922 in Farmer, NC and was the daughter of the late Sidney Doke and Eldora Delk Lowe. She was retired from BASF Corp of Charlotte. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and playing canasta. She loved cooking & baking and was famous for her Hershey Bar Cake. She was a long time active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Charles R. Rhinehart Sunday School class and worked in the church preschool.
Survivors include her sons, Jim Ervin and wife Jo Ann of Plano, TX and Hank Ervin of Charlotte; daughters, Brenda Lemmond of Matthews and Debbie White and husband Richard of Charlotte; sister, Joan Siler; brother, Johnny Lowe; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove U.M.C., PO BOX 681900 Charlotte, NC 28216.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 15 at Pleasant Grove U.M.C. with visitation from 2-3 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
