Ralph W. Danley's Obituary
Ralph W. Danley, Jr, of Huntersville, NC, passed away on Friday August 25, 2023 at the age of 81. As a child growing up in South River, NJ, Ralph’s talents, abilities, skills and charm were already on display. He was an AllStar on the Little League Baseball Team who everyone was anxious to be around. At 17 he went to work for Acme Markets and in 4 short years worked his way up to store manager and became the youngest manager in Acme history. He was sent to the struggling stores and worked hard until the store became profitable, only to be moved to the next store needing help. Further developing his reputation for always succeeding, at 40 years old he married sweet Joan, moved to Monroe, NJ, and bought and managed 2 of his own IGA supermarkets along with his brother Phil. He employed many people that were happy in their jobs because Ralph made it fun. He enjoyed relaxing in the Caribbean; his favorite vacation was when he treated his mother Evelyn and twin sister Matty to a week in Barbados and had the best time laughing all day long! He took a turn at also owning his own Construction Company, corvettes and a race horse – a treasured memory his family gave him for his 50th birthday was a day in his honor at Freehold Race Track where he was photographed in the Winners Circle. For the last 30 years, Ralph lived happily in Huntersville, NC on Lake Norman and was the Director of Customer Service for Pulte Homes until retirement. NC proved to be wonderful and rewarding, continually meeting the challenges of a growing area in work and play, making everlasting new friends (along with the old) and enjoyed hosting family and friends with many visits to his beautiful and warm home on the lake.
Ralph loved Dale Earnhardt, Elvis, country music and visiting with family and friends. He lived a full life, taking risks and always came out on top. He was admired by many for his humor, jokes and making every experience a good time for all.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents Evelyn (Hyer) and Ralph W. Danley, Sr., his son Robert Carl (Bobby) Danley, and brother-in-law Don Marcinczyk. He is survived by his wife Joan, daughters, Beverly Boyler (Ronnie), Debra Canuso (Tony) and Marlene Ryan, grandchildren Mark Tutino (Mallory), Billy Ryan, Maria Tutino, C.J. Ryan and Douglas Ryan (Erin), great grandchildren Levi, Mason, Gianna and Mila, brother Philip Danley (Sharon) and sister Gale Marcinczyk.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday, September 30th, 10:00-11:00am at James Funeral Home of Huntersville, with Memorial Service and reception immediately following. Condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.JamesFuneralHomeLKN.com.
