Ramasamy Thangavelu passed away in the hospital on April 4, 2023, from complications of thyroid cancer. He was born in India to parents who were farmers and was the only one out of five children that went to college. He then went on to become an Electrical Engineer and at the age of 35, he moved to Nigeria with his wife Kamala and daughter Arasi. There together they welcomed their daughter, Devi. They shared a passion for gardening and spent endless hours creating one filled with their love.
Subsequently, they moved to the United States where he worked as an Electrical Engineer for Bristol Myers Squibb. One of his proudest moments was when his daughters graduated from medical school. Their accomplishments gave him a great sense of pride and joy.
In 2015, he lost his beloved wife of 47 years, after which he moved to North Carolina to be near his family, especially his three grandsons, Arasan, Dhilan and Shay, whom he doted on and who loved him dearly.
