Ray Bailey's Obituary
Ray Darbert Bailey, 90, of Cornelius, died September 10, 2012 at the Brian Center in Mooresville. He was born in Iredell County on August 26, 1922 to John and Essie Sherrill Bailey. As a medical technician in the US Army, he served in the Battle of the Bulge. Ray was a lifelong resident of Mecklenburg County.
Survivors include his sons Steve and wife Pat of Mooresville and Gary and wife Cathy of Statesville; daughter, Dianne Hager and husband Billy Ray of Cornelius; grandchildren, Terry M. Bailey, Clif G. Hager (Michelle), Nick R. Bailey (Cindy), Eric Bailey, Johnny F. Goodman (Shannon), April H. Howard (Rodney); great-grandchildren, River Austin Howard, Colton Ray Hager, Walker Lee Hager, Ayden Ray Bailey and Peyton Neil; brother Authur “Art” Bailey. He is preceded in death by his wife Lois B. Bailey; brothers, Willis, Alfred and Kenneth Bailey; sisters, Helen Tucker, Ruth Martin, Loyce Bailey and Jessie Byers.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville, with Rev. Larry Joyner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.
