Raymond Drury's Obituary
Mr. Raymond Vincent Drury, 54, of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025. Raymond was a native of Warwick, RI. Ray spent ten of his formational years in Lebanon, NH where he was a successful cross-country runner (which he took pride in) and enjoyed dipping his toe into many hobbies. As a child he illustrated his giving nature through involvement in many charitable fundraising efforts. Family involvement was always a priority. Ray joined his cousin at the University of Rhode Island to begin his college career as a Ram before transferring to UNC-Charlotte, where he graduated, to be near his immediate family. Ray remained based in the Carolinas for his professional career, however he had the opportunity to spend extended periods in Massachusetts and Texas where he was able to provide transformational support to those in need following the impact of major storms as an insurance claims adjuster.
Ray lit up a room and was fond of being around people. He enjoyed watching sports including New England teams and the Carolina Panthers. Ray always wanted to catch a baseball game or take a nature hike. The Boston Red Sox were his favorite sports team and he shared that passion with his family. Raymond also enjoyed chess, playing with his dogs and relished travel.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 26 years, Traci Drury; his parents, Robert and Rosemary Drury of Denver, NC; siblings, Jennifer Grant (John) of Iron Station, NC, Bob Drury (Rosarae) of Charlotte, NC; and loving nephews and nieces, Johnny Grant, Cooper Grant, Orianna Drury, and Raelyn Drury.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 8 at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Raymond Vincent Drury to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via jimmyfund.org/gift.
