Rev. Douglas Thomas' Obituary
Rev. Eulice Douglas Thomas, 85, of Denver, NC died May 12, 2011 at the Brian Center in Mooresville. He was born on February 11, 1926 in Tangier, VA to the late Eulice and Hattie Laird Thomas. He served in the US Navy in WWII from May 1944 to May 1946. He graduated from the Prairie Bible Institute (Alberta, Canada), Columbia International University (Columbia, SC) and Covenant Theological Seminary (St. Louis, MO). He served at Jamaica Bible College, Mandeville, Jamaica from 1957-1966 under the World Team Mission. Eulice was a minister in the Presbyterian Church (PCA) and pastured churches in SC, NC, and VA. He served as an interim in several churches following his 1991 retirement.
He is survived by his wife Juanita Thomas; son, Nathan Thomas of Charlotte; daughters, Susan Smith and husband Ted of Denver and Valerie Price and husband Dean of Leesville, SC; daughter-in-law, Susan Thomas of Summerville, SC; sister, Pauline Kent of Dover, DE; grandchildren, Abbie and Graham Thomas, Nick, Charlotte and Jackson Smith, Thomas and Kayce Price. He is preceded in death by his son Douglas Thomas and brother Rudy Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Missions Fund at First Presbyterian Church Stanley, 512 Old Mount Holly Road, Stanley, NC 28164 or the Missions Fund at SouthLake Presbyterian Church, 13901 Hagers Ferry Road, Huntersville, NC 28078.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 Monday, May 16, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church-Stanley with Rev. Dan King officiating. Visitation will follow at the church. Burial will be private at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.
