Richard Barnette's Obituary
Richard "Dickie" McCoy Barnette, 88, of Huntersville died June 3, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1937 in Iredell County to the late Bertram A. Barnette, Sr. and Agnes Blythe Barnette.
Dickie was a lifelong member of Huntersville Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and elder and was named Elder Emeritus. He worked on the property and building committee and was a Scout Leader. He was a charter member of Pack 19 which began in 1945. He was a life member of the Catawba Lodge and recipient of the BSA District Award of Merit. He served in the National Guard. He retired from the ABC Board and then farmed. He enjoyed woodworking and making toys and gave them to children everywhere.
He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Seitz Barnette.
Survivors include his brothers, Alex (Wife Lillian) and Jim (Wife Mildred) Barnette; as well and nieces and nephews that he was so proud of; as well as brother-in-laws, Sonny and Gene Seitz.
Memorials may be made to Huntersville Presbyterian Church.
Burial will be private in the church cemetery. A service to celebrate his life will be held at Huntersville Presbyterian Church (14416 S. Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC) at 4 PM Thursday, June 18. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center.
