To the Brown Family,

Dr. Brown's encouragement and passion for chemistry and teaching led me to purse a degree in Chemistry and then a doctorate. During my career, I have worked to get the best technology and gear to our nation's law enforcement and intelligence community. I've been a part of great teams that have deployed tools at crime scenes, medical examiner offices, laboratories, and provided tech to support our troops in war zones. I can thank Dr. Brown for starting me on my scientific journey and helping create my passion (and foundational knowledge) for science and engineering. He played an important part of my life - and in the lives of many other people and the organizations that I have been able to help.

Dear Mrs. Brown and Family,
I was truly saddened to learn of the passing of Dr Brown. I was a high school student at Minnechaug from 1963 to 67. Mr. Brown (then) was my science and chemistry teacher as well as the advisor of the activity block Bridge club.
He knew that I wanted to become a nurse and that I loved children. It was he who informed of the nursing program at Children’s Hospital in Boston. As a result I proudly graduated from Children’s Hospital School of Nursing and went to have a 45 year career.
I have always been thankful for his encouragement and guidance. Wish I had taken the time to tell him that.
He was truly a remarkable man and educator who had a wonderful career in which he touched many young lives. Most of my class have expressed sadness today and admiration of times long ago.
May you Rest In Peace Dr. Brown.

To the Brown family and especially Delanne, Halina and I send our deepest condolences. Dick was one of my favorite teachers, a mentor, and a friend. I will always cherish the time I had with him as a student and friend. He was such a great person that finding the words to express appreciation for him is a monumental challenge. I guess I can best summarize by saying he was deeply loved and respected by many. He will be sorely missed.

Doctor Brown showed kindness and empathy to his students. I think often of my chemistry class, it was a safe haven in a very tough transition time for me. He was such a respected and honorable man. Continuing his education always just for the love of learning. I was thrilled when my son was able to learn from him also.

Many of his students at Minnechaug are remembering what a nice person and good teacher he was, whether we knew him as Mr. Brown, in his early years of teaching, or Dr. Brown a little later on. We send condolences to his family.

Dear Delanne, Chris, Joe, RIchelle & Grandsons
Many happy memories shared with you & Rich or as we often called him; Professor.
It's very hard for us to fathom that he has passed to another life & yes, it hurts.
The comforting feels that make us smile are that you're together & Delanne, you're not alone.
We hope to make a trip to CT in 2021 once our world is in a better place. We look forward to seeing you for a visit going & coming. We'll go out to supper & toast your father, husband, grandfather & friend.
