Richard "Doc" Holliday's Obituary
Richard Campbell “Doc” Holliday, 75, of Huntersville died April 2, 2014. He was born on July 12, 1938 in Detroit, MI to the late Welborn and Florence Holliday. Doc served in the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1962 and retired from the Celanese Corporation in 1997 after 34 years. He is a member of SouthLake Presbyterian Church. Doc was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Holliday; daughter, Kim Blackwelder and husband Dan of Huntersville; grandchildren, Brittany Kinder (Dave), Megan Blackwelder and Ashley Clontz; brothers, Jim Holliday and wife Carrie and Dale Holliday and wife Cheryl; and sisters, Lily Dirette and Judy Kenny; as well as son-in-law, Billy Clontz. His daughter Denise Clontz and brother Jay Holliday preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 Sunday, April 6, 2014 in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville with Rev. Wade Malloy and Rev. Adam Mumpower officiating. Visitation will be 2-3 prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow at NorthLake Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SouthLake Presbyterian Church (Building Fund), 13820 Hagers Ferry Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078.
