Richard Groce's Obituary
Richard Eugene Groce, Sr., 86, of Huntersville died September 4, 2013 at the Huntersville Oaks. He was born in Forsythe County to the late Bobby and Essie Stine Groce on September 15, 1926. He was a 50 year Master Mason at Lodge 205, Huntersville. Richard served as a steward in the Merchant Marines during WWII. He worked at A&P Meat Distributors in Charlotte and was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntersville.
He is survived by his wife Lucille; sons, Dennis and wife Janet of Davidson; Richard, Jr. of Cornelius, David of Charlotte, Scott of Statesville; daughter Kathy Groce and partner Dotty Holley of Charlotte; 6 grandchildren, Richie, Christopher, Joshua, Brandon, Amber Strickland, Sarah Willett, and 1 great-grandchild, Abigail Willett.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 Sunday, September 8 in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville with Rev. Tina Burleson and Mr. Eddie Haigler officiating. A reception will follow in the James Funeral Home Community Room.
