Rita Ann Baker, 56, of Davidson died on August 23, 2015. Rita was born March 27, 1959 to Cecil and Dee Long of Tarboro, NC. In addition to her parents, Rita is survived by her husband, John Baker; her daughter Rebecca and sons Be Read Obituary
John, I am so, so sorry to hear about Rita's death. It's been a long time since I had seen either of you but thought fondly of the times we shared. I'm praying for God to wrap you in his arms and comfort you and your children at this most difficult time.
Sitting outside the church trying to force myself out of the car while trying to hold back tears remembering all of our heart to heart talks over the years. I couldn't have asked for a better supervisor, mentor and friend. You will truly be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known you.

My thoughts and prayers are with John, Becca, Ben, Alex, and all of the family and friends that enjoyed Rita as a part of their everyday lives. Her sweet soul, bubbly personality, laughter, and mentorship will be sorely missed. As one of my first supervisors in the days at the University Career Center at UNC Charlotte, Rita was a great friend and had such a positive presence wherever she went. She wrote a sweet recommendation on my LinkedIn profile years ago that i'll now cherish even more.
In this imperfect world, we are subjects of fallible and imperfect bodies that will eventually fail. But as many have stated before, I am confident that at the Second Coming, we'll get to see Rita again...and raised incorruptible! In this time of despair, may we all remember and find hope in the Promise, and develop a closer walk with Him.
I will miss the after work dinners with our little group. I will miss the day trips, well, except for that one trip to see the fall foliage. I will miss sharing our love for the beach. I will miss sharing laughter and tears, and laughter through tears, and the love of a good punch line. I pray that all who are mourning can find comfort in their memories of Rita. She will be missed. But as we are promised eternal life I look forward to seeing her again on the other side, because "we chicks gotta stick together". Much love to John, Becca, Ben and Alex. We were lucky to have her for a while.

I was shocked to learn this morning of Rita's passing. Rita and I had a very special bond, which began the day she interviewed for her recent position at the University Career Center and continued while she worked at the Career Center.

I was so sad to hear of Rita's passing. She was a wonderful person. Always smiling and positive. I worked with her when she was the alumni liaison from the UNC Charlotte Career Center.
She had a passion for life and her work with students and alumni that will be missed on the UNC Charlotte campus.

This was terribly shocking and sad news. I worked with Rita in the University Career Center at UNC Charlotte these last two years. She was a gentle, good natured person, who loved her work in career services. She often spoke of her family and loved you all dearly.
She will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Rita was a friend in middle and high schools. I have a picture of Rita, Donna Williams and myself and she was holding a puppy in that picture too! She always had a smile for you and always the saw good in everyone. Rita was one of those special people that always acted like she was so happy to hear from you or see you. Rita, you will be missed by so many. See ya on the other side one day.

To the entire Long family - I am so sorry to learn of your loss. I knew of Rita really through her brother Stuart and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Long, who all loved her so much.
