Robert Caswell Stroup's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Caswell Stroup, 76, of Charlotte, NC passed away on September 13, 2016 at Novant-Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
He was born on October 19, 1939 in Winston-Salem, NC and was the son of the late Walter Laughlin and Bonnie Payne Stroupe. He was a retired electronics engineer; member of the US Navy; was an active member of the Boy Scouts and served as Scout Master; was Past Master of the Long Creek Masonic Lodge; member of the Metrolina Model Railroaders Club and was involved with the train layout at the annual Southern Christmas Show for 16 years; helped with the restoration of the Trolley in Charlotte; and 40 year member of A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church in Charlotte.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol Ann Burr Stroup; two sons, Scott Laughlin Stroup and wife Connie of Charlotte, Matthew Norman Stroup and wife Carrie of Stanley; a daughter, Tracy Ann Denby and husband Paul of Mooresville; his 99 year old father-in-law, Norman Henry Burr of Charlotte; six grandchildren, Scottie Leigh and Dalton Tyler Stroup, Taylor Paul and Hannah Ann Denby, Robert Caswell Stroup, II and Gregory Marr Tyler.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charlotte with Rev. John Petry, III officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the church prior to service and following the burial in church fellowship hall.
