Robert Bailey Bartlett's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Bailey Bartlett, 88, of Charlotte, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 21, 2022. Bob was born in Rock Island, IL and retired from the Boy Scouts of America, Mecklenburg County Council in 1994 after 32 years of service during which he worked as an Assistant Scout Executive and Field Director. As a youth, Bob earned his Eagle Scout Award and was a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. Bob served in the Army from 1953 – 1955 with Rank of PFC. He was actively involved in his church, Independence Hill Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon, member of the Jubilation Choir and a member of the Wednesday Night Alive Kitchen Crew. He was also active at the YMCA and NOMAD Aquatics & Fitness Center for many years.
He is survived by his son, Kim W. Bartlett, step-daughter, Inger Stevens-Laws (Scott) and their son Garrett and daughter-in-law, Lisa Wright (Chris) and their kids Camden & Zoe. He is also survived by three nephews, Randy Bartlett, Craig Bartlett and Drake Bartlett. Bob was predeceased in death by his parents Robert B. Bartlett Sr. and Rachel W. Bartlett Stitt, his wife Cynthia W. Bartlett, his wife of 37 years, Judy G. Bartlett and his first wife Marilyn Bartlett.
Bob has asked memorials be made to Independence Hill Baptist Church, 10220 Independence Hill Rd. Huntersville, NC 28078 or to the Boy Scouts of America, Mecklenburg County Council Memorial Fund, 1410 E. 7th St. Charlotte, NC 28204.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Friday, October 28 at Independence Hill Baptist Church. Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.
