Robert C. Cherrington's Obituary
Robert Clayton "Bob" Cherrington, 72, of Cornelius, died May 15, 2013 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was born on December 12, 1940 to the late Paul and Fern Cherrington.
Survivors include his wife Susan Cherrington; sons, Kevin of Pompton Lakes, NJ, Michael of Lake Hopatcong, NJ and Eric and wife Janelle of Zanesville, OH; daughters, Tracy Williams of Parkersburg, WV, Michele Maziar and husband Dan of West Chester, OH, Autumn Cherrington of New York, NY; Alyssa Cherrington and fiancé Graham Kuzia of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Barbara Mendelson, Dixie Kreissl and Polly Brown; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Bob will be remembered by his friends and family for how he could not do enough for others as well as his brave and positive outlook on life. Above all, Bob was a loving family man. He enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially fishing, golfing and skiing. He worked most of his life in retail management, most notably in the family business, Tice Farms in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville, NC on Sunday, May 19 from 3-6 PM.
The funeral service will be held in the chapel of James Funeral Home on Monday at 11 AM with Monsignor Richard Bellows officiating. Burial will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blume Hematology & Oncology Clinic (memo: Robert Cherrington) at PO BOX 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233. Blume Clinic is a pediatric cancer clinic that was close to Bob’s heart.
