Robert De Sandre's Obituary
Robert Louis DeSandre, 79, of Concord, NC passed away peacefully December 11, 2020 at Tucker Hospice House. He was born September 13, 1941 in Trenton, NJ to the late Romeo and Lena DeSandre. He was a loving husband to Phyllis DeSandre who passed away January 6, 2015.
Robert graduated from Hamilton High School in 1959 and continued his education at Drexel University earning a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. After college he worked for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and then the N.J. Department of Transportation where he retired after 30 years as a Project Engineer. He was also a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of New Jersey.
Robert was an outdoor enthusiast, spending time playing tennis, golf, fishing, hunting, gardening, looking for artifacts, and many other outdoor ventures. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren teaching them to fish, build campfires, and building life skills.
Robert was a very generous person who impacted many people lives. He contributed to many charities for a variety of causes.
Robert is survived by his brother, Roy DeSandre and wife Kathleen; stepson, Michael Bonelli and wife Kelly of Davidson; stepdaughter Jaclyn Felsenfeld and husband Eric of Potomac, MD; and grandchildren, Emma, Gianni, Alexis, and Eli.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 15 at James Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church. Committal services will follow at NorthLake Memorial Gardens.
