Robert Herrmann's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Keith Herrmann, 92, of Huntersville, North Carolina passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018 at the Salisbury VA Medical Center Victory Lane Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Beverly Lou (Fillbach) Herrmann; son of the late Edward & Elizabeth Herrmann; brother to Sally (Don) Frey; brother of the late James Herrmann, David Herrmann, Jerry Herrmann, Roger “Pete” Herrmann & Don Herrmann; beloved father to Melissa, her husband Mark Dierks & grandson Jack Edward Dierks; and Sarah Leaf-Herrmann & her husband William.
Bob was born and raised in Faulkton, South Dakota, and loved his hometown. He proudly served in the US Army under General Patton in Europe during WWII. He and his wife relocated to Wyandotte, MI after the war where they became active members of the downriver community.
Bob enjoyed a long career in the Metro Detroit area working in Chevrolet, Ford & Edsel sales and service, and retired from Mark Chevrolet in Wayne, MI. He and Beverly were members of the First Congregational Church of Wyandotte, MI where they held several board positions. Bob was proud when Beverly was elected the first female Deacon.
After his wife passed away, Bob moved to Huntersville, North Carolina to be closer to his family. He was actively involved in the local chapter of the VFW and was proud to be the Marshal at the First Annual Huntersville Veterans Day parade.
Bob was known by his family, friends, and neighbors for his positive attitude, generosity, and sense of humor. He will be missed.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Veteran’s Day weekend in his hometown of Faulkton, South Dakota. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to a historic landmark in Bob’s hometown: Faulkton Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 292, Faulkton, SD 57438.
The family thanks the staff of Ranson Ridge Assisted Living in Huntersville, NC for providing a fun, safe & engaging assisted living environment for Bob over the last few years.
