Lionel was like a father to me after my dad passed away. I cannot begin to tell all the other ways that my life was touched by him, but, I will mention a few.

He was there when I needed a friend and mentor. He played a part in my introduction to my wife, Cindy. He married us. He baptized our children. When we struggled, he counselled us. When we reached milestones, he rejoiced with us.

He shared the message of Christ with us and was a steady rock to lean on and a light to follow.

I, and my entire family, loved Lionel. Though we had not seen him much in recent years, we are all saddened by his passing. Our hearts and prayers are with Avanelle and the whole family.

Our family was blessed to have been a part of Lionel's congregation in the 1980s. We loved his family and his family of believers. Both Avanelle and Lionel were "unrecognized heroes" in our world before we moved away. Our love and prayers are with you.

The Lord has used Pastor Morgan in many frutful ways since he came into First Presbytery, bringing with him a number of renewed former members who earlied had left the ARP Church. More than that he has been a good and faithful servent of his Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear Avanell and the entire Morgan Family: We were so sorry to learn of Lionel's passing away. He was such a blessing to us and to all those who knew him. He was a wonderful Minister of the Gospel. Lionel and the entire Morgan family were a big part of our lives through Grace Presbyterian Church on Archdale Drive for many years. He was passionate about serving his Lord and Savior and was ready to serve in any capacity. The vision cast by the late Marion Smith and Lionel was to have someday a grand church on the center of that property in South Charlotte. Now 43 years later it is coming to pass. I wish he could have seen it completed with his earthly eyes but I know that he is now serving in an eternal kingdom which is even greater. Well done thy good and faithful servant!

Rev. Morgan was my pastor for most of my childhood. I have many fond memories of him and always appreciated his warm and kind demeanor. They hosted the youth for many a trip to their lake house in the summers to which always resulted in a good time. He was a man of God and I know he is enjoying being with Jesus.
