Robert James Felbinger's Obituary
Robert James Felbinger, more commonly known as Murf, age 64, of Davidson, NC for the last 3 years, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to George P. and Irene M. Felbinger, who preceded him in death. His younger brother Allen K. Felbinger also preceded him in death.
After graduating from Gateway High School in Monroeville, PA, Murf enlisted in the Navy. He served on the USS Savannah from 1971-75 as an RM2 Radioman. He then continued his education and earned a BS in Accounting from Robert Morris College. Upon graduation, Murf accepted a job as an auditor for the U.S. Army Audit Agency at Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA. In Sept 1979, he married the love of his life, Diana M. Pajich. Murf , (known as Bob at work) and Diana went to Germany as he did work there for the U.S. Army Audit Agency from 1982-85. Returning to Virginia he eventually accepted a promotion to the U.S. Naval Audit Agency as Site Director for the Norfolk Naval Station Field Office. Murf retired after 37 years of service with the Government of the United States of America and received the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award.
Murf enjoyed growing up in Monroeville, PA and then living in Hampton, VA, where his most precious and happiest accomplishment happened, the birth of his daughter, Bobbi. He was so proud of the girl and woman she had become. Murf was an avid bass fisherman and upon retiring, he moved to Davidson, NC where his lifelong dream of living on a lake with his bass boat came true.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Diana Pajich Felbinger, daughter Bobbi Lynn Felbinger, brother, John G. Felbinger, sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Gailen Keiffer and Paula and Darren Grimes, mother-in-law, Lucille Pajich, niece, Tanya Caldwell, and nephews; Troy Caldwell, D.J. Grimes, and Cory Grimes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Novant Hospice P.O.Box 33549 Charlotte, NC 28233 or Davidson Fire Dept. P.O. Box 579 Davidson, NC 28036 in memory of Robert Felbinger. Committal will be held at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Monroeville, PA.
