Robert Howard Osborn's Obituary
Robert Howard Osborn, 88, of Davidson, NC, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at The Pines of Davidson.
Bob was a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from Western Hills High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management, was an active member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and met his future wife of 66 years, Nancy “Pidge” Arganbright.
After marrying in 1959, Bob began a career in Data Processing/Information Systems beginning at Mead Paper, and later at Celanese Corporation, where he spent 18 years, primarily in Charlotte, NC. He finished his career with Nissan North America, in Nashville, TN, and later Denver, CO. Along the way, Bob and Pidge raised three children, enjoyed the sport of tennis, and were actively involved in the Presbyterian church in all cities where they lived. Bob maintained a lifelong love of all sports, especially baseball, any University of Cincinnati team, and later, Davidson College basketball. During his retirement, his favorite activities included bridge and golf. He was an active volunteer with Davidson College Presbyterian Church, The Pines at Davidson, where he served on the Residents’ Board, Volunteer Tax Assistance, and NorCCRA (North Carolina Continuing Care Residents Association).
Bob is survived by his children Jamee Osborn Lynch of Durham, NC, Mark Osborn of Raleigh, NC, and Stacy Osborn Raney (Bob) of Southern Pines, NC; grandchildren Victoria Sosa, Kyle Raney, Hope Raney, Charlie Osborn, Zoë Osborn, and Lucy Osborn; and great-granddaughter Olivia Senter. He is also survived by his brothers Tom Osborn of Lexington, KY and Dick Osborn of Canton, GA. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy “Pidge” Osborn, and son-in-law John Lynch.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Davidson College Presbyterian Church on Friday, April 10 at 11am.
