Robert Pereira's Obituary
Robert Bruce Pereira of Huntersville, NC, passed away on February 14, 2022 at the age of 84.
Robert was born in Rochester, NY where he lived for 80 years to Russell and Catherine Pereira. Robert attended the Aquinas Institute of Rochester, Class of 1955, and later earned a degree in Animal Husbandry and Agronomy from Alfred State College, Class of 1958.
Robert lived an adventurous life riding motorcycles (from participating in enduro races to long road trips down the east coast), owning and training horses, piloting single-engine planes, and skydiving with the Ripcord Skydiving Club. He was a member of the U.S. Parachute Association and a certified Senior Parachute Rigger. Robert served in the U.S. Army as a Crypto equipment repairman from 1961 to 1963 including service in Korea.
A professional trucker, Robert retired from United Van Lines. Post-retirement Robert enjoyed summers at Gravel Ponds Campground in Scottsville, NY, spending evenings by the fire pit. He frequently joined fellow owners of GMC motorhomes to the Geneseo Airshow, and looked forward to watching the annual Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
Robert was a beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his sons Luke Pereira and wife Kimberly of Huntersville, NC, Mark Russell Pereira and wife Katy of Denver, CO; grandchildren Evan, Jordan, Donovan and JT.
The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM on Thursday, March 3 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (14740 Stumptown Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078). A funeral mass will be held immediately following at 11 AM. Committal Services will be held at 2 PM at Salisbury National Cemetery.
