Robert (R.B.) Boliva Helms Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Boliva Helms Jr., was born on April 1, 1928 and passed peacefully on August 14, 2024 at the age of 96 in his home in Huntersville, NC.
Robert Boliva Helms Jr. or better known as R.B., Bull, or Pop joined the Navy in 1946 where he primarily resided on the USS Bushnell AS -15 in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii for 2 years. He then met and married the love of his life, Helen McGraw. In June of 2024, they celebrated 75 beautiful and faithful years together. R.B. retired from Westinghouse Electric Company after 38 years of service. Even before retirement, R.B. spent many hours tending to his farm, and there was no doubt that mowing his lawn and pasture was one of his favorite past times. He also enjoyed spending time with his close friends including meeting at Bojangles for breakfast, working for Oehler’s Ball Field Services for 10 years, and participating in various church functions. R.B had many skills but one of his finest included carpentry. He could fix and build anything, including a life size doll house for his only granddaughter. His hard work and dedication was seen through his years of scouting. He was so proud to have a son and grandson who shared in the same dedication and achieved the honor of Eagle Scout and God in Country.
He truly lived a life full of love, character, and faith, and there is no doubt that his Savior, Jesus Christ, welcomed him home with arms wide open.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Isla Helms, his brother, William Odell Helms, and his son, Robert McGraw Helms. He is survived by his wife, Helen McGraw Helms, his son, Robert (Robin) Boliva Helms III and his wife Karen, grandson, Robert (Jake) Boliva Helms IV and his wife Sheila, granddaughter, Kelsey Helms Robinson and her husband Garrett, great grandson, Reynolds Jay Robinson, and his beloved Donkey, Happy Jack.
