I have been blessed in my life to be in the company of some fine male role models/mentors. From grandfathers to father and to my dad-in-law Bobby Ranson! They all preached to me God, country, family and hard work as priorities for success in life. God put Bobby in my life at a time when I needed the live demonstration of this lifestyle and praise God that I was humble enough to let some of it sink in. Pride has been my constant nagging enemy as an adult, but Bobby’s life showed me that we can peaceably rise above that and become better men for God’s glory and not our own. For this lesson and demonstration, I will forever be grateful. Bobby’s life on earth ended last week, but the lessons and legacy he bestowed on myself and many others lives on! May it continue to be fruitful for God, country and the families in our community! We will celebrate his life this weekend, please come and join us.
Many things to love about Bobby Ranson .. a Veteran who continued to serve after his military commitment ended .. a Presbyterian Christian in word and deed .. a loving and loved member of the Ranson family .. a productive successful Mecklenburg businessman .. a beloved father and husband .. for me the reason I regard him so highly is in spite of the fact that I personally never gave him any reason to do so (and many reasons not to) he cared about me and never failed to show it .. he and Don Ranson were cut from the same cloth .. the family and community have seen Bobby’s light and he and it will be missed .. R.I.P. .. I regret not showing you more love and respect while you were living but am closer to the rest of the family as I try my best to follow your example ..
Bobby was my dear first cousin and my mother, Kate Ranson Cornue’s favorite nephew. Like many in the Ranson Hunter clan, Bobby was a great storyteller and debater. We often loudly disagreed on politics at family gatherings with Bobby ending our debate with a loving hug and kiss and a hearty congratulations . His smile and cheerful affectionate personality were a pleasure to experience. Bobby was a great tease and a wonderful warm cousin and friend. Love you, Cuz. Virginia
