Robert F. Ruggiero Sr.'s Obituary
Robert F. Ruggiero, Sr., 88, of Cornelius, NC, and formerly of Fairport, NY, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, surrounded by family. He was born in Boston on August 17, 1937, to the late John and Catherine (Myers) Ruggiero of Brookline, MA.
Bob attended St. Mary of the Assumption High School in Brookline, MA, and studied finance at Bentley College in Waltham, MA. He proudly served in the United States Army and the United States Army Reserve. Bob had a successful career in large equipment leasing, sales and marketing which led his family to live in multiple states across the Midwest and the Northeast. He retired near family in North Carolina following the sudden passing of his wife, Joanne, in 2002. Bob enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren attending sporting events and celebrating their successes, relaxing on Cape Cod beaches and local lakeshores, long drives and a good book.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 40 years, Joanne Sideris Ruggiero, his sister Diletta Elliott, and sister-in-law Ella Ruggiero.
He is survived by his children, Amy Ruggiero Swiniarski and her husband David of Byfield, MA, and Robert Francis Ruggiero, Jr. and his wife Bridget of Cornelius, NC; and his grandchildren, Lia and Andrew Swiniarski, and Alexander, Francesca and Brendan Ruggiero. He is also survived by his brothers, John A. Ruggiero and his wife Mary Tomlinson, and Richard R. Ruggiero and his wife Bonnie; and his sister and brother in-law Dorothy (Sideris) and Peter S. Davis; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
A private vigil will be held on Saturday, May 9, at James Funeral Home, Huntersville, NC.
