Robert Wadford Sims' Obituary
Robert W. Sims, 89, of Cornelius passed away peacefully on October 26, 2012. Born December 22, 1922, he was the son of the late J.O. and Carrie Sims. He was preceded in death by an infant son, four sisters, and three brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of sixty –five years, Doris M. Sims, his wonderful children Larry Sims (wife Karen), David Sims, Kathy Sims, and Kelly S. Cate (husband Mike), four beautiful grandchildren Courtney S. Leblanc (husband Jake), Ryan Cate, Haylee Cate, Tyler Cate, precious great-grandaughter, Ava Leblanc, beloved nieces and nephews, brother Don Sims, dear friend of fifty years Mickey Caldwell, special friends George “Heck” McAllister, Jan and Larry Horton, Phil and Carol Jackson, good family friend Deborah Hahn and many faithful friends at Cashion’s Quick Stop and Ace Hardware in Cornelius.
A member of the US Army, he proudly served his country in WWII. He was a founding and lifetime member of the Cornelius Volunteer Fire Department, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 86, and a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church for fifty years.
He loved his family and friends, and his pride and joy, his garden. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, October 28, 2012 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville, NC.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 Monday, October 29, 2012 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Mary John Dye, Rev. Tim Reimer and Rev. Jill Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Community Cemetery.
