Roberta Owen Johnston's Obituary
For 84 years, the Owen and Johnston families were blessed to have Roberta Owen Johnston in their lives. She met her Lord & Savior on June 9, 2015. Roberta was born on February 9, 1931 in Wheeling, West Virginia, graduated from Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady, New York, and then went to nursing school at the University of Rochester. She was an energetic RN in the nursery of Strong Memorial Hospital, where she met her beloved husband of 63 years, Dr. Harvey Johnston, who still resides at the home.
Roberta was a 30 years volunteer with the Loaves and Fishes Pantry located in Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, and a longtime volunteer in the kitchen of Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church’s Wednesday Night Youth Program. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Robert Owen, and her brothers Richard, Donald and James Owen. She is survived by her sister Pauline, and brothers Johnny, Earle and Tom. She was the devoted mother of five children, Eric, Robin, Brent, Kurt and Amy. She was a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, Sylvia, Thomas, Andrew and Emma Johnston.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 3:00pm at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church. Any memorials may be made to Loaves and Fishes or Hospice.
