Ronald Wallace Cyr, 84, of Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026. Born in Lewiston, Maine, Ronald lived a life defined by devotion to family, quiet strength, and steady commitment to those he loved.
Ronald was born to Emile and Edna Cyr on September 28, 1941, and grew up in Lewiston, where he graduated from Lewiston High School in 1959. In 1963, he married the love of his life, Geraldine Ann Bouchard. Together they shared nearly 50 years of marriage before her passing, building a life rooted in loyalty, hard work, and deep family bonds. They spent 34 years raising their family in Merrimack, New Hampshire, where they created lasting friendships and memories. They welcomed one daughter, Jennifer Ann, in 1970.
Ronald proudly served his country as a Private in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972. During his active duty from 1966 to 1968, he worked as a helicopter mechanic, a role that reflected both his technical skill and strong work ethic. He was honorably discharged in 1972.
Following his military service, Ronald built a long and successful career in retail store management. He spent most of his professional life with TJX Companies, where he was respected for his dedication and leadership. He retired in 2008, and he and Geraldine relocated to Huntersville, North Carolina, to be closer to their daughter.
Ronald had a lifelong passion for sports and was a devoted New England sports fan. He rarely missed following the Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots, proudly carrying his New England roots with him wherever he lived.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Cyr; his brother Reno Cyr and wife Claire of Auburn, Maine; his brother Norman Cyr and wife Maryse of Lakeland, Florida; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will miss him deeply. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine; his parents, Emile and Edna Cyr; his sister Rose Sands and her husband John of Auburn, Maine; and his brother Roger “Rockie” Cyr. Roger’s wife, Constance of Lisbon, Maine, survives him.
The James Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family, and a celebration of life will be held in Maine at a later date.
