Roy "Gene" Keyser's Obituary
Roy E. “Gene” Keyser, of Charlotte, born in Wayne County, WV on August 23, 1924 to Wealtha Marie Pack Keyser and Roy Keyser entered into Heaven on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Gene proudly served with the 3rd Marine Division in the Pacific during WWII.
He married Helen Lois Rohrbach on May 21, 1945. They had 2 daughters, Sandra Moreland (Dwayne) and Terry Downs (Fernando) whom they raised in Miami, FL.
Gene was a strong, vibrant Christian and Bible Scholar. He served many positions in his churches, working with youth, Sunday school teacher, deacon and senior adult director—taking seniors on bus trips around the US.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Helen; daughters, Sandra and Terry, sister Marjorie Smith of Huntington, WV; 5 grandchildren, Heath Moreland (Noel) of Mt. Pleasant, Andy Moreland of Mt. Airy, GA, Elizabeth McDowell (Dirck) of Moorestown, NJ, Jennifer Payne (Harry) of Piscataway, NJ and Dan Downs of Houston, TX and 6 great-granchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00, Thursday, April 12 in the chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr. Huntersville, NC 28078. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Gene with a donation to the Wounded Warriors or the National Alzheimer’s Association.
