Ruby was a long-time member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church and served in the nursery for 30 years. She was also a part of the “cooking committee” at Hopewell making her famous yeast rolls and pound cakes for many occasions. Ruby was a beautician by trade, but she held many positions in her lifetime. Some of which were homemaker, Long Creek School Elementary bread maker and daycare director but the position she cherished most of all was that of Nanny. Ruby helped to raise all of her grandchildren and now, their children, but she was also Nanny to so many more children in our community, helping to raise and nurture them – she truly was Long Creek’s NANNY. Ruby loved to cook and bake. She loved on those around her with her kind smile and delicious food. Love was her calling. Ruby loved God and adored her family and friends, it was clear to all – she was what the world needs more of.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Oxidine and her sisters, Lucille Parker and Mary Wilkins.
