Rusty Hamilton Jr.'s Obituary
Rufus Watson Hamilton Jr. (Rusty) passed away peacefully while in the care of Via Healthcare at his residence on Sunday, Feb 1st surrounded by family.
Rusty was born on May 13th, 1952, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte NC to Rufus Sr. and Peggy Hamilton. Rusty was a lifelong resident of the Long Creek community near Huntersville NC. Rusty attended Long Creek Elementary School, Alexander Jr. High and North Mecklenburg High School. Rusty worked for Hamilton Furniture Company, Hamilton Mattress Outlet and most recently with American Billiard Company.
Rusty loved nature and spent many days walking the trails at Latta Plantation Park in Huntersville. Rusty was an avid reader with Zane Grey and Stephen King being two of his favorite authors.
Rusty was preceeded in death by his parents, Rufus Watson Hamilton Sr., Peggy Puckett Hamilton and sister Pamela Jane Hamilton.
Rusty is survived by his brother Hoyt (Carol), brother-in-law Keith Plyler (Pam deceased), uncle, Conrad Puckett, aunt, Earle Black, nephews Lee Hamilton and Tracy Foy, and nieces Carrie Woodworth and Jamie Partlow.
The family would like to thank Amanda and all those from Via Healthcare who assisted with Rusty’s care in his final days.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, February 9th, 2026 at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville NC. Committal services will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after in the church fellowship hall.
