Ruth Mikita's Obituary
Ruth Mikita, 96, passed away October 27, at her home in Charlotte, NC.
Ruth was born to the late Harry and Lydia Swalm in Belle Plaine, Iowa, on April 7, 1922, and lived most of her life in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, and she sang in their choir for many years. She moved to Charlotte, NC five years ago to be closer to family members. Throughout her life, Ruth enjoyed water sports, bowling, golfing, and sewing. She was an avid gardener, cook, and bird watcher. Her sense of humor was one of her greatest gifts, and she often kidded with those she was around. She loved being with others, especially family members.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Julia Riherd and Lois Miner. She is survived by her children Mark Mikita and wife Lindsay of Naperville, IL, Tammy Cozens and husband Mark of Charlotte, NC, and Michael Mikita and wife Patti, of Mooresville, NC, grandchildren; Valerie, Kelly, Douglas, Andrew, and Connor, one cousin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at the Aldersgate Retirement Community, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, on Tuesday, November 13th, 2:00pm.
