Sam Nance's Obituary
Sam Wilson Nance, 52, of Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, January 11, at Novant Hospital in Huntersville.
He was born March 12, 1968, in Huntersville, NC, son of the late George “Sid” Nance and Sue Nance. Sam was a lifelong resident of Huntersville.
Sam started his working career at the age of 18. He had to choose between being a farmer and working. He chose to become a plumber. Starting out at North Mecklenburg Plumbing, he worked there for 18 years becoming a master new-construction plumber before starting his own business. He was honored to work for Jamey Gamble and then Jay Young with Young Builders. My favorite thing to say to Sam when I needed plumbing at the house was, “You don’t know a good plumber do you, and he would say, “No!”.” He loved raising a garden and canning every year, he loved restoring old cars with his dad and working along with him in the cabinet shop. But his favorite hobby was fishing.
Survivors include the love of his life, Monica McCall; Joshua McReynolds, who was like a son to him; brother David Nance; aunts Mary “Doodle” Atwell and Judy Rodgers; uncle Frank Nance; several cousins; and close friends.
A graveside service will be held at Ramah Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Thursday, January 14, at 2:00 PM.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Novant Hospital Huntersville for the excellent care given to Sam during his health journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ramah Presbyterian Church:
