Samuel "Sam" Luntsford's Obituary
Samuel Guy Luntsford, 84, of 10229 Lasaro Way, Huntersville, NC 28078 passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born on October 28, 1937, in Johnson City, Tennessee and lived in Johnson City, Tennessee until 1979. He was the son of the late Samuel Guy Luntsford and Bonnie Shell Luntsford of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Family brought Sam the most joy. He loved being with all his family, and hearing about what was going on in their lives. He had the gift to interact with genuine interest and care on almost any subject and also loved sharing wisdom and advice when it was needed.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 55 years, Janet Greene Luntsford, their three children and eight grandchildren. Daughter, Elizabeth Luntsford Nisbet, husband Tom and children Samuel, Jack, Layton, and Charlotte Agnew, of Winston Salem, NC. Son, John Samuel Luntsford, wife Daphne and children Luke and Eli Luntsford, of Cornelius, NC. Daughter, Emily Luntsford Long, husband Jason and children Olivia and Harrison Long, of Huntersville, NC. He is also survived by two sisters: Jane Luntsford Childers, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Nancy Luntsford Osborne, of Johnson City, Tennessee.
Sam was a 1960 graduate of East Tennessee State University and served in the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge. He was employed with Philips Consumer Electronics for 35 years, beginning in engineering and then serving as plant manager for the last 22 years in the Johnson City, Tennessee furniture plant and the Arden, North Carolina injection molding plant. He retired in August 1996.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, in Hendersonville, NC for 37 years, where he had served on the Personnel and Finance committees.
There will be a private service held in Huntersville, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Sam Luntsford’s honor to Levine & Dickson Hospice House – Huntersville; 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078 – 704-375-1000
