Sean Seabury Lacey's Obituary
Sean Seabury Lacey, 64, of Charlotte, passed away at home on Friday, August 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his daughter, Kate Lacey, and son-in-law, Daniel Locklear.
Born on July 12, 1961, in Ft. Myers, Florida, to the late Brad and Joan Lacey, Sean grew up in a close-knit family where faith, love, and commitment to others were guiding principles. These values shaped his life and were at the heart of everything he did.
Sean’s final day reflected the life he loved most—spending time with family, sharing laughter with his son-in-law, speaking with close friends, enjoying his favorite show, and cherishing precious moments with his grandchildren.
Family was always Sean’s greatest treasure. Every morning, he began his day by brewing coffee in the kitchen with his son in-law Daniel while sharing plans for the day ahead. Then lovingly helping his grandchildren get ready for school, offering encouragement for the day ahead. He delighted in these daily rituals, just as he had once experienced growing up in a warm and loving home. Sean lived his life as an example of devotion, kindness, and service—always ready to share wisdom, offer guidance, and extend love to those who needed it most.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and deep conversations with friends. Recently, his Friday mornings were spent over coffee with dear companions, sharing stories, memories, and reflections on God’s word.
Sean was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Carnegie Lacey.
He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Lacey; son-in-law, Daniel Locklear; grandchildren Aaliyah, Sebastian, and Tristan; son, Tom Stewart; daughter-in-law, Olivia Stewart; grandchildren Ethan, Vivian, and Remi; brothers Chris (Beth) Lacey and Todd (Connie) Lacey; sister-in-law Sandee Lacey; nieces Katrina, Nicole, and Ashley; and nephew Justin. His legacy of love, faith, and family devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, with visitation to follow. Burial will be private at Mimosa Cemetery.
Please have flowers sent directly to Davidson College Presbyterian Church, 100 N Main St., Davidson, NC 28036.
