Sharon Helms' Obituary
Sharon Helms, 71, of Cornelius, NC, died unexpectedly at 12:01 am on Sunday, November 25, 2018. She was born February 1, 1947.
She was the daughter of Warren Helms, deceased, and Jonni Helms Catlett. She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Sparks and spouse, Doug Sparks, and Meredith Williams. She had three grandchildren who were the center of her universe: Bailey Sparks, Kylie Sparks, and Christopher Hamilton.
She is also survived by her siblings, Cynthia Adams, and spouse, Don Adams; John Helms, and spouse, Mary Helms; Kimberly Smith and spouse, Scott Smith, and Kevin Helms. Sharon is survived as well by nieces Alexandria Smith, Kelly Landrum, and spouse, Kyle Landrum, and nephew Travis Helms.
Sharon retired from the American Cancer Society, then continued to remain active working part time and volunteering. In addition to her passionate interest in the Democratic Party, reading, and ancestry, she was a lifelong patron of the Highland Games. Nothing meant more to Sharon than making memories with her family. Her spunky spirit left an impact on all who met her.
Family, friends, and all whose lives Sharon touched are invited to a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 1 at the James Funeral Home of Huntersville. Her family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:00 pm prior to the service. Sharon loved the color red, so please feel free to wear red or any cheerful color. Cut flowers or potted plants can be sent to the James Funeral Home, or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society to honor Sharon’s memory.
