Sharon L. (Stafford) Williams' Obituary
Mrs. Sharon Williams, 89, of Mooresville, NC, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025.
Sharon was born in Hammond, IN and grew up in Ecorse, Michigan with father Norman Stafford, mother Charlotte (Rarick), and siblings Bunny, Rick and Donny. She met Charles Williams at the tender age of 14. Sharon married Charles in 1952, as he was being stationed in Puerto Rico with the U.S. Air Force. They had their first child, Charlene and the three lived in Puerto Rico for almost two years. Some lifelong friendships were formed while there. Upon returning to the states, they had their next two daughters while living in Dearborn Heights, MI. Sharon and Charles moved from Trenton, MI to Mooresville, NC in 2015, following their daughters who had all migrated south to NC. Sharon loved living in the southern climate.
Sharon loved her family fiercely and they were her top priority in life. She’d made many long-lasting friendships in Michigan (including her own version of The Golden Girls). She loved golfing, with another passion being that of a realtor having not retired until the age of 79. She loved gambling at the casino, Engelbert Humperdinck music, and was a great cook and hostess.
Sharon and Charles (Tink/Chuck), were married just short of 69 years, with Charles passing Easter Sunday 2021. Shortly after, Sharon moved to TerraBella Senior Living in Mooresville, NC, where she made many cherished friends with residents and staff.
Sharon was a six year pancreatic cancer survivor, which was not only a miracle, but showed what a tough little lady she was.
Sharon is survived by their children; Charlene Swain of Port Orange, FL, Terri Shoemaker (Jeff) of Denver, NC, Bunny Plagens (Greg) of Mooresville, NC, grandchildren; Doug Plagens (Ashley), Corie Meschke, great-grandson Owen; sister Buena/Bunny Barr (John), and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sharon will be laid to rest with husband Charles at the Salisbury National Cemetery where Charles was laid to rest with honors for his service to our country. The Committal Service will be held there Tuesday, January 6, 2026, 12:30 PM (501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144).
A Celebration of Life for Sharon will take place for her 90 th birthday in March 2026 – details to be dispersed as they become finalized.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
