Sharyn Turner's Obituary
Sharyn Ann Buckwalter Turner, 73, of Concord, died June 23, 2022 peacefully at her home. She was born on November 24, 1948 in Windber, PA. She resided in Wheaton Maryland where she graduated from the Academy of the Holy Cross in 1966.
Sharyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sharyn married the love of her life Thomas on June 25, 1971. Together they raised their family in Crofton, Maryland. In 2002 Sharyn retired from Verizon, and she and Tom moved to North Carolina to be closer to family. Sharyn loved Genealogy and researching her Italian Ancestry. In her own words she was, "interested in finding my roots so I could pass that information down to my children and grandchildren.” Sharyn also enjoyed crocheting blankets, hats for babies in the NICU, and hats for those who were experiencing homelessness. This was her way of giving back to those in her community. Above all Sharyn enjoyed spending time with her family making memories.
Sharyn was preceded in death by her parents: William I Buckwalter, Jr and Adeline L. Farbo Buckwalter; and nephew James E Gordon.
She is Survived by her husband Thomas; son David Turner of Citrus County, FL; daughter, Kelly Powers and husband Stephen of Concord; grandchildren, Kaela, Olivia, and Ethan Powers; sister, Donna Osborne and husband Martin of Hutersville; nephew William Gordon and wife Tona (Huntersville); great nephews Shane and Jacob Gordon.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at July 8, 2022 at 3pm at James Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the community room.
An internment service at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church Windber Pa will be held at a date to be determined.
