I’m still in shock over Sheilah’s passing. I was privileged to watch her service on YouTube. I remember our meeting At Appalachian. We shared a History of the Movies class which was at the end of the day. We struck up a conversation in class & she invited me to join her for supper. Which is where I met her roommate Suzanne, and later her cousin Pam & roommate Jane. We all shared the love of attending the university’s sporting events: tennis, baseball, football, soccer & especially basketball. They introduced me to Neil Diamond & other artists & we attended concerts together. They watched me get my ears pieced! There were vacations & trips to the beach (Myrtle Beach & Fort Macon, NC), the mountains, trips to Huntersville, Hickory (to my Grandmother’s home), & North Wilkesboro. We attended each others churches. We kept in touch by letters & cards. After I moved to Illinois, we sort of lost touch physically. But Sheilah has always had a special place in my heart. My heart goes out to Joy & her family, Pam & her family, Robin, and all of Sheilah’s friends. May God comfort all of you (and me) with the love of Jesus Christ & those beautiful, fun memories of her beautiful smile & generous spirit. Sheilah will be missed.
