Shirley Page Hafey's Obituary
Shirley Page Hafey, 91, of Indian Land, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Born on September 20, 1934, in Nashville, Tennessee, Shirley was the daughter of the late Burl and Leanna Page. She later married the love of her life, Bliss Hafey, and together they raised five children. Their family life began in Nashville and later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where Shirley devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and community.
For nearly 40 years, Shirley owned and operated a daycare, caring for countless children with patience, kindness, and unwavering dedication. Her impact extended far beyond her own family, as she nurtured generations of children who were blessed by her gentle guidance and loving heart.
Shirley had a lifelong love of sports, especially basketball. As a young woman, she played the game she adored and later gave back by coaching for several years, encouraging teamwork, discipline, and confidence in the lives of young athletes.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Shirley took great pride in her active involvement with United Methodist Women. She served faithfully as Chairperson for Spiritual Growth for the Metro District UMW, finding joy and purpose in fellowship and service to others.
In her quieter moments, Shirley loved to sew and was an exceptionally skilled seamstress, creating with care and precision. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Affectionately known as “Maw Maw,” she was a steady source of love, wisdom, and comfort to her family, who will cherish her memory always.
Shirley’s legacy of faith, service, and unconditional love will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bliss Hafey; and daughter, Tracy Fedrick. Shirley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Larry Walker; daughter, Sharon Garvin and son, Richard B. Garvin; daughter, Patricia Melton; and grandchildren, Ashley Walker, Melanie Walker, Mary Beth Plummer, Emily Dirr, Jeramiah Plummer, James Melton, Heather Melton; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm, Monday, February 2, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2:00pm. Interment will follow the service in the Church cemetery.
