Shirley graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, KY, and attended the University of Kentucky studying business administration. Shirley’s faith was very important to her. Upon retirement, she was generous with her time and resources, volunteering at Charlotte Rescue Mission and her church, where she attended Bible study and taught children’s Sunday school. She enjoyed scrapbooking, "Wood-Girl weekends,” spending time with family and weekly card games. Shirley was known to be outgoing and friendly, with a quick wit, delightful sense of humor and a love for animals.
