Stephen Thomas Vik's Obituary
Stephen Thomas Vik, 69, of Charlotte, NC, died July 29, 2024 at home. He was born on August 18, 1954 in Minnesota to Mary Joan Vik and the late Vincent Elbridge Vik.
Stephen attended Immaculate Heart of Mary grade school in St. Paul, MN, and graduated from Highland Park High school, also in St. Paul. Growing up he was always a sports enthusiast; and developed a love of music, especially playing the saxophone. While attending the University of Minnesota he was a proud member of the U of M Marching Band. Stephen entered the Army with his saxophone and played his way through a 20 year career, retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 2001. As he traveled the world, he kept a vigilant track of all Minnesota sports teams despite their ups and downs. Stephen was a die-hard fan of all Minnesota sports! After his time in the Army he enjoyed a second career working as a legal assistant for many years at the Social Security Administration.
Survivors include his wife Suzette; sons, Stephen and Jason; step-son, Cameron; step-daughter, Alexandra; siblings; Mary, Barbara, John and Teri; and 4 grandchildren. His brother Vincent preceded him in death.
Viewing will be at the Willwerscheid Funeral Home at 1167 Grand Avenue, St Paul, MN 55105 on Thursday, August 8th from 11:30 to 12:30. Followed immediately by burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota at 1 pm.
