Steven "Kool" Marvin Vincent's Obituary
Steven “Kool” Marvin Vincent, age 66, of Denver, NC, entered heaven on Monday, January 14, 2019. He was born on September 1, 1952, in Mecklenburg County to the late, Rufus Marvin Vincent and Eunice Loutina Ferguson Vincent of Huntersville, NC. He was married to Judith Wise Vincent for more than 48 years.
Steve was employed by Duke Energy as a Maintenance Technician before his recent retirement. He was a member of Westport Baptist Church in Denver, NC and was a Mason of the 3rd degree, Masonic Lodge 757 in Denver.
In addition to his mother, Eunice and his wife, Judith, Steve is survived by his son, Steven M. Vincent, Jr. and his wife, Shannon, two daughters; Karen Michelle Rogers, and her husband, Larry, all of North Augusta, SC., and Holly Marie Chavis and her husband, William “Billy”, of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Margaret Shuford and her husband, Jeff of Charlotte, Grace Johnson and her husband, Danny of Abbeville, SC and brother, Clifford M. Vincent and his wife, Stacey, of Mt. Holly, NC; four grandchildren, Bryan and Harlie Chavis and Davis and Brooks Vincent and a large, loving, extended family.
Steve loved sports. He was a part of the “Fat Boys Club” for the North Lincoln High School. He was a spotter for the Knights during Friday night lights. He helped with various sports and enjoyed cheering on all the kids.
Steve’s favorite college football team is the App State Mountaineers. He really enjoyed tailgating with the guys and cheering on his favorite team.
In addition to his love for sports he loved camping trips with his wife. He thoroughly enjoyed trips where his children and grandchildren could also tag along. He had the opportunity to take two camping trips out West, visiting National Monuments. His favorite was Yellowstone National Park.
Steve has been a devoted husband and an amazing father and grandfather. Family was so important to Steve and the way he loved his family showed. He was also a devoted son. Steve was the best brother. He had more friends than you could count. His friendships grew to become like family. He will truly be missed by everyone that knew him. He certainly was a legend in our eyes. He often told us he was “The Man, The Myth, The Legend”
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 12:30 until 2:30 PM at Westport Baptist Church, 2372 Lake Shore Road, Denver, NC 28037. The funeral will follow at 2:30 PM, in the church with Pastor Steve Owenby officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 10500 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville, NC 28078 with Masonic Rites.
