Sue Cagle's Obituary
Arta Sue Wood Cagle, of Davidson, NC, was born September 14, 1934 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Emma & Neal Wood. She was one of 5 children, all of which she was endeared by until her passing. She moved to Phillips, TX in 1942, graduated from Phillips High School in 1953, and went to work in accounting for JC Penney. She met and soon married the love of her life, Billy Ray Cagle, on Jan 28, 1956. They traveled the world, served the Lord, raised 2 daughters, and eventually retired in Mooresville, NC.
She would work in accounting and as a homemaker for the many years she spent here. Her friends would call her ‘Suzy Q’ and she was known for her love of people and her pecan pie. One of the driving forces in her life was the Christian virtue of hospitality. She and Bill hosted hundreds of people in their home during their lives and extended Christ’s hand of fellowship wherever they lived and went. She had a sense of adventure and spent the last 30 years traveling the world with her husband. During their 62 years as husband & wife, she and Bill would live in Florida, Oklahoma, Texas and Maryland, before finally settling in North Carolina for the last 28 years.
Sue went to be with the Lord on June 26th, 2018 just four months after the passing of her beloved husband, Bill. She is survived by her daughters, Tonya (Kelvin) of Rapid City, SD & Kimberly (Michael) of Berthoud CO. She is also survived by one sister, Anita of Mt Pleasant, TX and one brother, Neal of Van Vleck TX. She also has 6 grandchildren that she adored: Tatum, Logan, Heath, Jessa, Lane & Sierra.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 11th at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC. A visitation will take place at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC 28144.
