Susan Blythe's Obituary
Susan Winslow Blythe, 70, of Oak Island, NC, formally of Charlotte, NC, died June 13, 2022, Wilmington, NC. She was born on August 31,1951, to James (Jim) S and Sarah M Blythe in Charlotte, NC, at Presbyterian Hospital.Susan attended North Mecklenburg High School Class of 1969.She met the love of her life F. James (Jim) Jones in 1984, they married in 1997, they had a blended family, 5 children between them. Michael, Amy, David, Todd and Jeff. Jim and Susan loved and cared for their children as each other’s own.She worked as a teller and loan officer for First Citizens Bank and Carolinas Telco Federal Credit Union from 1969 to 1995. She also worked at Duke Power for 3 years part-time. Her legacy is her love for her family and her friends. She was thoughtful and had a generous heart. She was always ready to help anyone in need. She was a wonderful grandmother and doted on them constantly. Her grandchildren loved visiting her at the beach. She had many friends as far back as the 1st grade. She had an amazing group of close friends and understoodthe value of friendship. She was an avid lover of Barack Obama.Susan is survived by her daughter Amy Cuttino and her children, Jane and John Peter Cuttino, and son-in-law Chad Cuttino. Her son Todd Armstrong and wife Neisha and their children, Colson, Adyson, Mason and Greyson Armstrong. Michael Jones and wife Wendy and their children Molly and Jack Jones. Jeff Jones and his children Cameron, Ryan and Caden Jones, and daughter-in -law Stephanie Jones. Her sister Sandra Blythe. Brother James “Jim” “Bunky” Blythe and wife Marcie Page. Brother Jeff Blythe and partner Gary Coleman. Nephews Lee Pressley, Matthew Blythe and his wife Megan and children Lila and Liam Blythe, and sister-in-law Sherry Brooks. Her sister-in-law Janice Shoultz and husband Donald “Clarke” Shoultz. And her many, many Blythe and McCall cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband F. James “Jim” Jones and son David Jones.Funeral service will be Sunday, July 17, 2022, 3 pm, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 8600 Mt Holly Huntersville Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078. Followed by a graveside committal. The service will be officiated by Reverend Father Garry Edwards.Visitation and refreshments will follow the service.Honorary Pallbearers will be Pam Hamilton, Karen McClure, Teri Caldwell, Linda Butler, Diane Caskey, Judy Lewis and in spirit Etta Tillery and Rhonda Ferguson.
The family has requested that remembrance be made in the form of contributions to Dahlia Grove. Susan was a loving supporter of this organization for survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence and substance abuse. www.dahliagrove.org
