Susan Carlin Lydon's Obituary
Susan Jean Carlin Lydon, 86, of Charlotte, passed away on April 27, 2024. Sue was born to the late Robert Edward Carlin and Lillian Louise (White) Carlin on September 23,1937, in Buffalo, New York.
As a young woman, she enjoyed modeling and advertising in New York and working in the early years of TV at WSOC.
In 1963, she married John C Lydon Jr and had 5 children. She was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church for over 60 years and spent many years volunteering at both the church and St. Ann Catholic School. Her later career was spent working in the church office and at the Chancery office for the Diocese of Charlotte.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her brothers Richard Carlin and Fr. Warren (Robert) Carlin.
She is survived by her children, Susan (Darren Lawler), John (Cindy), Margaret (Paul Kuhn), Richard (Shannan) and Robert (Suzanne).
Also, her three grandchildren, Ella Lydon and John and Joseph Kuhn.
Sue had a quick, dry wit and a kind heart. She enjoyed The New Yorker, her cat Toodles and all things Eiffel Tower. She spent the last 2 years at Williams Place in Davidson where she was thrilled to have found wonderful, new friends and community.
The services will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM and the funeral mass will be at 11:15 AM. The interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte.
