Sylvia Turner's Obituary
Sylvia Swacker Turner, 68, of Mooresville, formerly of Charlotte, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family March 11, 2013 at her home. She was born on October 28, 1944 in Mecklenburg County to Margaret Kennedy Swacker, currently of Stanfield, and the late Boyd E. Swacker. Sylvia was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. She had a sweet spirit, a tender heart, and a great sense of humor that created a home full of love and laughter. Sylvia cared deeply for her family and had a passionate love for animals. Throughout her lifetime and especially in her final days, she lived her faith.
Survivors include her husband James “Jim” E. Turner, III; sons, Michael and wife Sandra of Denver and Mark and wife Sheridan of Weddington; sister, Anne Davis and husband Bob; brother, Steve Swacker and wife Lynn; and grandchildren, Drew, Cameron, Colby and Chase.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund, 18841 Davidson Concord Rd., Davidson, NC 28036.
The family would like to thank Sally Hutchison for being a loyal friend, Dr. John Gatlin and his staff and Hospice of Iredell County for their care during her long battle with C.R.E.S.T.
