Ted Louis Mungin's Obituary
Ted Louis Mungin passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2014.
Ted was born on March 23, 1946 in Hollywood, South Carolina. He was the second child born to Horace Mungin, Sr and Margaret Mungin. Ted, his mother and siblings moved to New York City when Ted was a very young boy ending up in Amsterdam Houses on 60th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan.
Ted married his childhood sweetheart, Geraldine—affectionately known as Deanie in June of 1973. His job with British Petroleum facilitated a move to the San Francisco Bay area in 1974 where he and Deanie worked and raised their two children, Lateef and Rashida.
Ted completed his college education at the University of San Francisco in 1977
Ted worked many years in sales for various telephone companies—the last being AT&T. After retiring he and his wife moved to North Carolina.
He loved to travel and during his life traveled and has visited almost every continent. He absolutely loved photography—his camera was never far away from him. He leaves a wealth of beautiful pictures depicting his life history to remember him by.
Ted leaves behind to celebrate his life and preserve his legacy: his mother, Margaret Morrison Mungin (and her sister Ruth Strachan and brother Leroy (and his wife Wilhemena), his wife, Geraldine Mungin; his son, Lateef Mungin (and his wife, Aileen and their 2 daughters—Ted’s granddaughters: Jade and Ami), his daughter, Rashida Mungin, his brother, Horace Mungin (and his wife Gussie); his sisters Helen Mungin Deas and Barbara Lewis (and her husband Roland); his nieces, Sharnece Edmunson and Kamilah Cornelius; his nephews, Vaughan Mungin, Kevin Mungin, Malcolm Mungin (and his wife Adrienne), Akil Cornelius (and his wife Margot), and a score of great nephews, great nieces, cousins, in-laws and a lifetime of friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM, at James Funeral Home Chapel, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078 followed by a repast for friends and family in the Community Room.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation to the Salvation Army—Ted’s favorite charity or the American Cancer Society.
