Thad Calloway Campbell's Obituary
Thad Calloway Campbell, 79, left his home in Mooresville and went to his eternal home on June 14, 2011 where he now resides with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born on December 5, 1931 in Alexander County to the late Charlie and Lucy Campbell. He was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class at Peninsula Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. Thad was a ham radio operator and was part of the American Radio League. He served his country in the US Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife Celia Kerley Campbell, whom he married December 30, 1952; daughter, Sharon Wheeler and husband Fred of Matthews; son, Barry Campbell and wife Wanda of Charlotte; and daughter, Teresa Little of Charlotte; sisters, Mary “Boots” White and husband George of Taylorsville and Elizabeth Anne Gilreath and husband Mark of Hiddenite; 6 grandchildren, Amber Drye and husband Darren, Drew Little and wife Sara, Amanda Shaw, Jennifer Shaw, Nathan Wheeler and fiancée Hannah Love, and Aubrie Little and fiancé Brad Blackmon; 5 great-grandchildren, Nolan Drye, Wesley Little, Selene Shaw, Liam Campbell Drye, and Caroline Little.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons or to Hospice of Iredell County.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2011 at Peninsula Baptist Church with Rev. David Simon and Rev. Rob Houck officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Mount UMC Cemetery with military rites. The visitation will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service at the church.
