Thamir Jawdat Al-Hussaini, 84, of Denver died June 20 at his home. He was born on July 4, 1932 in Iraq to the late Jawdat and Zakia Al-Hussaini. He graduated from the Iraqi National Police College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree then Read Obituary

Sorry to hear the news. He was one of our favorites, tennis & golf buddy, and card games in Coulwood. I recall an emergency stop due to a storm on the lake. We were soaked, and there was birthday party at your house. Theimer played host to 4 of us downstairs, bringing shrimp, thirst quenchers, and goodies. What a welcome and great stop to ride out the storm!
We will miss him too!

Vicki, I am so sad to have read about Thamir passing away. I have been saddened for the last couple of days since reading about him. He was such a really great and lovable person.
I was close friends with him at UNC-Charlotte in Engineering, and the Engineering Alumni Club when it was small. We were all a close knit group back then, and everyone really liked Thamir. He was excited about life, enthusiastic and very much an optimist with a really terrific sense of humor. We both ended up working for Duke Power(Duke Energy now) and worked in the same Design Engineering Department and other departments for many years.
It was always a pleasure to meet up with him and converse about many things. I remember
you and Thamir living on the road back of the Memorial Hospital(Carolinas Medical) where you were a nurse. I believe at that time your only child at that time, your oldest son, was just a little fellow. I remember the fun times at all the Engineering Alumni Banquets and other get-togethers. Thamir was about as swell of a guy as anyone could be. After retirement of us two, we lost communication with each other. I ran into him a couple of times years ago after our retirement. I sent a card to the Neighborhood Church with a note inside for you as I did not know your address out on Lake Norman. I am so very sorry for your and your family's loss. The memories will always be there for you, and that is how you will connect to him, and through prayer. That is how it is. The grief is now there to handle,
but the fond memories and love will in time replace the grief.

Dear Vicki, Jimmy, Basil, Anisa and family,
My heart goes out to you all. I am deeply saddened for your loss and our loss. But knowing Thamir, I would guess that he would love for all of us to continue to live our lives to the fullest.
Thamir was my dad’s best friend. They went to school together at the police college in the late fifties. Thamir used to tell me stories about the good old days with my dad. Sometimes more than once, but I enjoyed it every time. He used to tell me that my dad used his leverage as his best friend to secure Thamir sister’s heart and marry her. When I came to the United States in 1996, Thamir gave me the first advice; Work hard, be honest and this country will reward you. I stuck with it. Two years later, I got promoted to a sales position in my company. I visited Thamir and Vicky that year. Thamir took me to Dillard’s and bought me a $350 suit (before tax). I was shocked. He said you will need to be sharp when visiting customers. That was my lucky suit. My colleagues in Floyds Knobs, IN called it the Wall Street suit.
Thamir represented the American dream to me, someone to aspire towards. Thank you Thamir for all your guidance, mentoring and laughter for the past 20 years. I will continue to live my life to the fullest as you did.

My dearest Uncle Thamir, We all miss you and proud of you. I cannot forget how did you help me when you came with your lovely wife Vicki and I was new in the States. You really backed me up in a time there was no one helping me, but you did.
Good deeds are eternal, so what you did will grow up day after day and stay flourish like a big tree and it will be multiplied.
You are not just my uncle, but also when I was seeing you, I was always seeing my father as well.
Everybody in the family will miss you and pray to you but I am sure that you are in a better place now with all good people whom they passed away before you. This is what the God want and it is his will.

Our heart goes out to the family. Though we don't see each other often, we remember Thamir fondly. He was a wonderful man. We will always remember how much he loved his family. You were his greatest treasure.
