Thelma Stickley Hawes' Obituary
Thelma Louise Stickley Hawes, 88, of Mooresville, NC, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.
She was born on February 14, 1926 in Warren County, VA. She was the daughter of the late Phillip and Emma Reed Stickley, and the wife of the late Thomas Junior Hawes.
Survivors include three sons, John Thomas Hawes and wife Judy of Charlotte, NC, Richard Wayne Hawes of Dover, DE, and Ronnie Lee Hawes of Huntersville, NC; three daughters, Bonnie Hawes Watson of Mooresville, NC, Patricia Diane Berry and husband Glen of Culpeper, VA and Tammy Lynn Williams and husband Steve of Summerville, SC; daughters-in-law Rose Teter Hawes of Dover, DE, and Suzanne Woods Hawes of Huntersville, NC. She has 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, one grandchild and one son-in-law.
Mrs. Hawes was considered by her children to be the “Queen of Moms.” When introduced, she would warmly tell all to “just call me grandma,” and always insisted on hugs when saying hello or goodbye. She always saw the best in everyone. She was generous, kind and loving and will be missed by many!
A graveside service will be held at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 12:00pm
